On the Move

Vivian has been crawling around like crazy since we got back from vacation. About half of her crawling is a high-stepping crawl where she lifts her arms about 3 feet of the ground each time she moves them. The rest of her crawling is regular rapid crawling...this is what she uses when she really needs to get somewhere.

A few days ago I was able to get some fabulous pictures of her. They are fabulous for three reasons: 1) she was in the cutest pj's ever which my mom bought for her and I am SO HAPPY she can finally fit into, 2) good crawling poses, 3) the pictures capture a handful of her many, many expressions she makes daily (the most common comments I get from total strangers about Viv--other than them calling her a handsome little boy--are that she is the most expressive baby they have ever seen and that she has big beautiful blue eyes).

Here is Vivi in full crawling stance:

Occassionally Vivi get's worn out and has to take a little break

But then she's right back at it within seconds

Vivi definitely has a "proud face" she whips out after having accomplished something difficult. It comes in about three different forms--here is one of them (my favorite proud face is the one where she sort of looks at you with a surprised face like, "I'm so impressive I even surprise myself sometimes.")

Despite her mobility, Viv still wants to be picked up and played with and given excessive amounts of attention a good deal of the time.

Here is her slightly worried AND/OR "why aren't you picking me up?" face

Followed by an expression of complete exasperation/confusion at mommy's lack of responsiveness

This is my all-time favorite face (GRRRR!)

However, Viv is not content with crawling. She has bigger things on her mind--WALKING. She is so frustrated that she cannot walk yet. Sometimes when I am holding her hands walking her around, she tries to let go and gets angry at me when I persist in holding her hands. She's taken a couple of pretty hard spills, but her ambition is unaffected.

This is my favorite post yet. She is so dang cute and I was so excited to see new pictures. I taught Sienna to walk in the swimming pool. It takes a lot of the weight off and it's easier for them to figure it all out. You should try that, she'll be walking in no time. I like walking much better then crawling. They don't get as dirty!

Oh, she's growing up so fast. We have got to get together ASAP.

Vivi's got a widow's peak to her. Derek had one too, but I'm pretty sure his is gone.
