One unique aspect of Deer Hollow is that you have to park your car and walk the last mile to the farm. Ashley and Jill were both seriously impressive in this regard. Ashley wore Max in the Baby Bjorn while pushing Charlie in the double stroller while Jill carted both Derek and her pregnant belly the whole unpaved mile. Meanwhile Viv did her best to patiently stay in the stroller--a real challenge for such an active little girl!
The kids all had a great time at the farm checking out the goats, sheep, ducks, and chickens. Ashley, Jill, and I spent most of our time trying to keeep them from getting eaten by bugs.
Here's Charlie trying his best to peer in at the goats and Viv showing her feelings about not being able to open the gate and get to them!
Several bug bites later, we decided to leave the farm! The mile hike back to the cars proved to be quite a challenge for all involved. Once at the cars, Jill, Ashley and I were lamenting that we didn't know the area better because we wanted to stop for icecream. A nice woman overheard us and directed us to the most darling little icecream parlor. I cannot remember the name of this place, but it was a toddler's paradise. It was here that Derek and Charlie (seasoned veterans of the icecream cone) introduced Viv to her very first softserve cone!
Derek let Viv borrow his hat for this photo which was taken solely to get a rise out of Viv's old man (a die-hard A's fan)!

How funny to read this post and see unnecessary praise to myself! You are too nice. Those are great pictures--I love the three of them with their ice-cream cones. That was a fun day--as always I now resolve that we do it more often!
I love her mad face... So CUte!
