April Fools!

I've never been one to notice April 1st, though every year, after hearing about the fabulous pranks others pull, I promise myself I will see this holiday coming and get in on the action the next year. This never happens.

That being the case, it is no wonder Rob and I fell so gullibly into the Hellewell's web of April Fool's lies. We get a knock on our door the evening of April 1st and were delighted to see the Hellewells on the other side of the door all smiles and holding the most perfect looking chocolate cake I have ever seen.

They said they brought the cake by to thank Rob for all of his hard work as Elder's Quorum President. They went on to tell fibs about this appreciation cake business being a family home evening tradition of theirs. Specifically, the lie stated that each Monday night they baked a cake as a family and took it around to someone who they wanted to thank. They kept amazingly straight faces for such bold-faced lying. In retrospect it was seriously impressive. The way they flawlessly weaved religion into the lie was pure genious.

As you can imagine, Rob and I were flabbergasted as well as super impressed with the Hellewell's kindness and level of dedication to FHE. We went on and on about how kind this was and, after the Hellewell's left, we drooled over what we imagined the cake might look like inside. We decided to save it until after dinner at which point I tried to cut into and realized I would need a small wood saw to succeed.

Congrats to the Hellewell's for winning the prize for the best April Fool's prank that I've ever had the priviledge of receiving.

That's hilarious! So it was real frosting? Funny.

But I would have been really let down about the fake cake, so maybe it's not that funny.

Oh man! I totally would have had to make a chocolate cake after that! Dang they're good!

Did they weight it down? It looks like it would have been pretty light otherwise, a tell-tale hint. Still it probably would have fooled me. Hilarious.

Ha! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I will have to say, it took a lot of practice to get our story down and a few times I almost blew it. I don't want you to think we're professional lairs but it was sooo worth it!

When Carrie told me about the prank, I thought it was genius!! When she told me about the ransom note, that was also genius.

How were the donuts, by the way?? Any good?
